New Delhi, Oct 08: A Delhi court will pronounce this evening its orders on taking cognizance of the chargesheet filed against the Chattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi by the CBI for allegedly using a forged document to tarnish the image of intelligence bureau and the Central government. The proceedings on the chargesheet were heard in the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Shahabuddin who said that he would pass the order on the cognizance at 4:00 pm.

The CBI counsel told the court that Jogi had co-operated with the agency during investigations.

When the court asked whether any step was taken to arrest Jogi, the CBI replied that since he was a chief minister and there was no likelihood of his absconding or leaving the country, there was no need to take such a step. CBI's special public prosecutor Jacob Daniel submitted that the Chief Minister was in possession of forged IB documents and used it as genuine.

The counsel said that Jogi circulated that document to the media without waiting for confirmation or reply from the Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee about the genuineness of the document.

His intention was to harm the reputation of Special Director, IB, N C Padhi, whose signature was forged and his intention was also to harm the reputation of IB and CBI.

Hand writing experts have confirmed that the IB report was forged, the counsel said.
