Russian officials confiscated nine tonnes of explosives that were found Friday on a cargo plane on a flight from Vienna to Kazakhstan that was flying via Moscow, the Russian State Customs Committee said. Customs officials are currently checking the documents, which they said appeared very suspicious. The officials would not provide any further details.
The plane was on its way from the Austrian capital to the city of Dzhezkagan in central Kazakstan.
The Interfax news agency said the cargo had been sent by Spain's Union Espanol to the Kazakhstan Corporation and that the plane had 594 detonators aboard. Bureau Report
