MCC, PW bandh in three states
Ranchi, Aug 25: Security has been tightened in the extremist dominated areas of Jharkhand in view of the 24 hour bandh called by the Maoist Communist Centre (MCC) and Peoples War (PW) in the state, alongwith Bihar and West Bengal.

The outlawed organisations have called the bandh to protest against the killing of nine people, including two PW women activists, by the villagers of Lango in east Singbhum district on August 7.
Director General of Police R R Prasad has reviewed the security arrangements with senior police and railway officials here yesterday. The ultras, during their earlier bandhs, had mainly targetted the railway property. Meanwhile, an inter-state coordination has been set up between the three states. They were in constant touch with each other, the DGP told newsmen.
The railways has also made adequate arrangements to foil any attempt of the extremists to damage railway property. The guards were being posted in the stations and tracks guarded by mobile patrol, sources said.
Meanwhile, police shot dead MCC self-styled zonal commander Prasad Thakur in Garwha district on Friday last. This was a major blow to the outlawed organisation. On the other hand extremists shot dead two persons and critically injured one of a family in Gumla district on the same day, police said. Bureau Report
