External affairs minister Jaswant Singh and Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah were among a number of VIPs who signed the condolence book at the American embassy in New Delhi conveying India's shock and grief over the loss of innocent lives in Tuesday's terrorist strikes in the US. US ambassador Robert D Blackwill was with Singh as he signed the VIP condolence book kept at the Roosevelt House.
In his message, Abdullah wrote in this hour of grief of the American people, “Let not America be alone. The people, of Jammu and Kashmir and indeed the whole world is with them. Let us be united and work together to wipe out terrorism from the face of this earth so that mankind can live in peace with each other.”
A number of ambassadors and senior diplomats have also signed the book.
Another condolence book has been kept at the American Centre at Kasturba Gandhi Marg.
