Second Pakistan province sets up council for Islamisation
Quetta, July 13: The government in Pakistan`s southwestern Baluchistan province has set up a 14-member council to recommend changes in laws which are in conflict with Islamic Sharia, an official said today.
Quetta, July 13: The government in Pakistan's southwestern Baluchistan province has set up a 14-member council to recommend changes in laws which are in conflict with Islamic Sharia, an official said today.
Last month, an Islamist-led government adopted a bill
declaring Sharia as the supreme law in the North West
Frontier Province. Nine of its 14 members belong to
the MMA.
The council has been mandated to examine all provincial local and special laws and propose amendments in the light of recommendations of the Islamic ideology council, an official notification said.
The proposed amendments will then be tabled in the provincial assembly for consideration, it said. Bureau Report
