New Delhi, Apr 24: Acting on a complaint by Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy, the Election Commission has held that AIADMK candidate T T V Dinakaran, contesting from the Periyakulam Lok Sabha constituency in Tamil Nadu, holds an Indian passport. Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Mruthunjay Sarangi, who was asked to verify Dinakaran's passport to see whether he was an NRI or not, said in his report that Dinakaran was holding an Indian passport of 1991 and his name also appears in the electoral rolls, EC sources said here today. The issue of Dinakaran's nationality was raised by Swamy following which the EC had ordered an inquiry into the matter. Bureau Report
