Raipur, Mar 09: The Deputy Speaker of Chhattisgarh Assembly and senior BJP leader Banwari Lal Agrawal today tendered his resignation, a day before the House was to take up a motion to remove him. Agrawal told here that he has submitted his resignation to the Assembly Speaker Rajendra Prasad Shukla at noon.
He resigned a day before the 90-member House was to take up a motion for his removal for his reported remark against judiciary that had been rocking the state assembly for the past several days.
On February five last at Bilaspur, he had reportedly asked at a press conference that "why Chief Minister Ajit Jogi meets the high court judges when three of his cases are pending in the court".
Congress Legislature Party had passed a resolution on February 17, condemning him.
