Hyderabad, Nov 07: A renegade naxalite Siraj, who had turned a police informer, was shot dead by naxalites of the People's War Group (PWG) and his bullet-ridden body was found on a road in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh today. The PWG extremists had captured Siraj alias Azad, who had worked with the naxal outfit as a deputy commander in Nalgonda district but later turned a covert operator, and held him as hostage for several days before killing him, police said here.
His body was dumped on a road near Veldurthi, a thick forest area in Guntur district. The driver of a state roadways bus noticed the body in the wee hours and informed the police.
The killing came three days after PWG had produced Siraj, his hands and legs tied-up, before a select group of journalists in Nallamala forest area.

He was made to confess before the media that he had joined hands with police in eliminating some of the PWG leaders.
The PWG had alleged that the police was using 'renegade elements' to keep a track on its movements and hide-outs and also to eliminate its leaders.
In a related development, the president of Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Committee (APCLC) Dr K Lakshman was kidnapped by a group of persons identifying themselves as 'Tirumala Tigers' here late last night. They had demanded release of Siraj from PWG captivity.
