New Delhi, July 16: Congress today said the resignation "drama" by Railway Minister Nitish Kumar and the internal wranglings in the Samata Party had once again demonstrated the "opportunist" character of the NDA coalition where Prime Minister is feeling "helpless". "Sometimes it is Mamata, sometimes it is Samata, sometimes it is another constituent..... it is sheer expediency and greed for power", party spokesman Anand Sharma told reporters.
Referring to spate of railway accidents, he said it would have been "adequate justification" if Kumar would have resigned months ago owning moral responsibility for any of these mishaps.
He said the whole episode has tarnished the image of the country's democratic institutions and severely undermined the sanctity of the cabinet system of governance. Bureau Report
