New Delhi, July 07: A single judge bench of the Delhi High Court today transferred to another bench the bail pleas of Vikas and Vishal - son and nephew of Rajya Sabha MP D P Yadav, who are facing trial in the Nitish Katara murder case. When the matter came up for hearing before Justice S K Agarwal this afternoon, he transferred both the applications on the ground that the same were partly heard by justice R C Chopra and therefore should be heard by him only.
"The bail applications are transferred to Justice Chopra subject to the orders of the chief justice," Justice Agrawal said in his order. Now the bail pleas of the accused brothers would come up for hearing on July 11 before Justice Chopra, who had issued notice to prosecution on April 9.
Vikas and Vishal, accused of kidnapping and murdering Katara from a marriage party in Ghaziabad, have been in jail for over a year and this is their first bail application in the high court. The trial of the case was transferred to a Delhi court following a Supreme Court direction on a petition filed by the victim's mother Neelam Katara apprehending that fair trial was not possible in Ghaziabad.
Prosecution alleged that Vikas and Vishal eliminated Katara on February 17 last year as they did not like his friendship with their sister. Bureau Report
