Ratlam, June 22: A gangster, owing allegiance to Mumbai-based Lakhan Bhai Thakur gang, has been arrested at Alot near here, police said today. The gangster, Aqeel Mewati, who was wanted in connection with several cases of murder, extortion and loot in Rajasthan and western Madhya Pradesh was arrested yesterday when he came to visit his family, superintendent of police, Varun Kapoor said here today.

Aqeel was a member of Lakhan Bhai Thakur gang for the last eight years and had committed various crimes in Ratlam and Mandsaur districts during this period and was absconding, he said.

Six country-made pistols and four cartridges were also seized from him.
