New Delhi: While the strike against the appointment of Film and Television Institute of India​ (FTII) Chairman continues, Gajendra Chauhan, the man at the eye of the storm said that the ministry has taken this decision after a lot of thought.

In an interview with ANI, Chauhan said, "I&B Ministry has given me this post after thinking this through & thorough research. I am upset that people have started protesting without knowing my capabilities or testing my potential."


He also reiterated, "I've said this before also, I will perform my duties to the best of my capabilities and produce results. "

The students of the prestigious film institute had said that although they have kept open the channels for dialogue with I&B Ministry they would not compromise on their basic demand of removal of Chauhan, a TV actor and BJP member as the new chairman of FTII's governing council. They raised the issue citing that Chauhan's lack of experience and vision will be detrimental in the institute's creative vision.


Many actors and alumnis too have expressed their concern over the same issue.
