Ahmedabad, Oct 31: A special POTA court today deferred its order on the bail of 10 persons, arrested for their alleged involvement in the Godhra train carnage, till November 3.
Ahmed Abdul Kala, Ishaq Mohd Yusuf, Mujhfar Usman Hayat, Anwar Hussain Pittal,
Mohd Musharraf Khan Pathan and five others had applied for bail earlier this month. Opposing the bail, prosecution led by Additional Public Prosecutor Sudhir Brahmabhatt had submitted that there was
prima facie evidence of their involvement in torching the S-6 coach of Sabarmati Express and they were present at the spot. Some of them were even arrested with weapons, he contended.
So far, of the 87 persons arrested for the carnage, 69 - including prime conspirator Maulvi Hussain Umarji - are in judicial custody, while five are out on bail on various health grounds. One accused person Fakruddin Siklighar died while in jail, cases of three are going on in the juvenile court and charges against nine were dropped under CRPC 169. Several persons are still absconding in this case even as police has filed 7 chargesheets till date.
