Madurai, July 04: Vaishnavite mutt head Madurai Adheenam Sri La Sri Arunagirinatha Gnanasamandhaswamy today offered to mediate in the Ayodhya issue along with Kanchi Acharya Jayendra Saraswathi and proposed that both the Ram Temple and the masjid be built in Ayodhya town.
Appreciating the efforts taken by the Kanchi Seer, the Adheenam told reporters here that even Puri Sankaracharya had appreciated the efforts being taken by the Kanchi Seer.
In this circumstance "I also wish to offer my service for finding a solution,” he said adding that being a sensitive issue that had national ramification, the Ayodhya issue should be resolved amicably as suggested by Jayendra.
His proposal was that both masjid and Ram Temple should be built in the Ayodhya town, the Adheenam said.
He said that he intended to go to Delhi and meet the members of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) for a discussion on the issue.
Condemning the hardline taken by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, he said such "inflexibility" could only lead to bloodshed and peace and harmony in the country affected.
The Adheenam said that Ram Temple was purely a religious affair and so only religious leaders should be allowed to sit and negotiate.
