Kohima, Mar 08: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has called upon the people to unitedly march forward into the future with positive vision, hopes and aspirations. In a special message after assuming the office, Rio urged the people and the political parties to reconcile with one another to achieve the long-cherished peace and subsequently bring progress and development, an official release here today said.
Lauding the people for reposing confidence in the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN), the chief minister said that in a democracy, the mandate of the people was supreme and therefore the alliance has accepted the responsibility given by the people.
Highlighting his government's priorities, Rio said it would create an environment conducive to finding a lasting and honourable settlement to the decade-old Naga political problem ''the Nagas have voted for us out of their desire for peace and positive change. Our government will make efforts to fulfil this aspiration,'' he asserted.

Rio said his government would strive for unity among the Nagas and organisations representing the society, cutting across political ideologies. It would also strengthen and support organisations like the Naga HoHo, churches, mothers association, students organisations and individual Naga intellectuals.
On the economic front, the chief minister underscored the need for total implementation of DAN's common minimum programme. The main thrust of his government would be eradication of unemployment through human resource development followed by formulation of special programmes to create job opportunities for women and youth and thereby harness their creative capabilities for the overall development of the state.
