Beijing, Feb 16: The United States will urge China to provide more access to American goods, especially agricultural products, under the pledges made by Beijing to the World Trade Organisation over a year ago, a senior US official has said.
"We do have concerns that in some areas, particularly agriculture, Americans are not getting the access the Chinese promised and which the WTO mandates," US trade representative Robert B Zoellick said ahead of his four-day visit to China.
"As a WTO member, China needs to fully implement WTO rules and reap the rewards of participating in the global market," Zoellick said in a press release issued by the US embassy here.

Zoellick, who will meet with Chinese vice premier Wen Jiabao and foreign trade minister Shi Guangsheng tomorrow will also discuss the impact of the inclusion in WTO on China, ongoing economic reforms, bilateral trade issues and current global trade negotiations, the release said.

He will also launch the US-China trade dialogue mechanism in a new bilateral forum designed to bring US and Chinese officials from throughout their governments to discuss bilateral trade issues, resolve potential disputes and foster cooperation on issues within the ongoing Doha Global Trade negotiations.
