Johannesburg, May 16: He may be bollywood's superbrat, but when Salman Khan arrived here for the IIFA awards, he definitely attracted a crowd in South Africa. Unlike many other stars who alighted early at the Johannesburg international airport yesterday, Khan made a last entry but a lasting impression, as fans cheered wildly, screaming his name. Later in the day, during the charity cricket match in centurion park, Khan, who was supposed to lead one of the teams did not take the captain's cap, but made an appearance at the balcony during the game. Screaming fans turned their back to the game in the pitch for around half-an-hour, to get a glimpse and perhaps an autograph from the obliging star. The Indian community in South Africa seems to know everything about Bollywood happenings, thanks to the proliferation of NRI-oriented entertainment channels. "Indian films also come in south africa, some run for weeks," said Shruti, an Indian origin teacher who had come from Pretoria to see the IIFA charity cricket match. She went on asking what went wrong with the proposed marriage between Abhishek Bachchan and Karisma Kapoor. "You got any news on this?" she asked.
