London, May 30: Tottenham are expected to sign West Ham striker Frederic Kanoute within the next two weeks.
The player's agent, Willie McKay, confirmed that the London clubs had held negotiations about a potential £4m deal for the Frenchman. And Kanoute, 25, is keen on a switch to White Hart Lane following West Ham's relegation to Division One.
"Freddie is very keen to go to Tottenham because he feels it would be a great move for him," McKay told reporters. "He is disappointed he didn't play many games last year because he thinks if he had then West Ham wouldn't have gone down.

"He's been to America and has now had his injury problems sorted out. There has been interest from other Premiership clubs, but Freddie believes Tottenham are best suited to him and he thinks he could strike up a good partnership with Robbie Keane.
"Freddie obviously wants to play in the Premiership and Glenn Hoddle has told the Spurs chairman, Daniel Levy, that Freddie is the player he wants.

"At the moment it's a question of price and it's down to the two clubs to agree on one, but I think it will be in the region of £4m.

"West Ham probably would have wanted more and last year they probably would have got more, but it is a buyer's market now.

"However, Tottenham will be very fair and personal terms should not be a problem because there are players at Spurs earning roughly the same as Freddie.

"Hopefully it should be wrapped up in the next couple of weeks. Tottenham are a big club and Freddie is keen to join them."

West Ham are known to be ready to cash in on some of their top earners in an attempt to offset the cost of dropping out of the Premiership. But they want to keep hold of Joe Cole, Michael Carrick and Jermain Defoe, who have been targeted by other top-flight clubs, for their Division One promotion push. The money generated from any Kanoute deal would allow the Hammers to do that.

Spurs boss Glenn Hoddle is desperate to strengthen his strikeforce and has also been linked with Brighton's Bobby Zamora.
