A prime prosecution witness in the Gulshan Kumar murder case on Wednesaday, identified before a sessions court an assailant of the audio king and narrated the sequence of events, describing how the two killers escaped from the scene of offence in his taxi after threatening him with a pistol.
"I was proceeding in a taxi towards Juhu when a person stopped my vehicle at Juhu-Versova link road. He pulled my hair mercilessly and at the point of pistol he dragged me out of the vehicle", the witness, Labshankar Sharma, told special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam during examination-in-chief. "They were two and both were holding pistols. One of them pulled me out, while the other sat on the front seat of the taxi. A lady passenger on the rear seat was also frightened like me and she too got down from the vehicle", the witness told sessions judge M L Tahilyani.
The witness further said that the two persons escaped in the taxi and he raised an alarm. He dialled 100 and alerted police control from a nearby shop, who asked him to report to D N Nagar police station, he informed the court.
Accordingly, the witness said, he went to the police station and informed the cops about his encounter with two armed persons who escaped with the taxi. Soon thereafter, police learnt that a taxi was found abandoned nearby and they rushed to the spot where he identified his vehicle.
When the judge asked the witness whether he could identify the accused in the court, he pointed at Abdul Rauf Daud merchant who was sitting in the dock with other accused.
"The man in white shirt is the one who pulled me out of my taxi and escaped with the vehicle", he said.
