New Delhi, Apr 22: The government on Tuesday announced in the Lok Sabha that it was willing to consider not revising diesel prices every fortnight if the price fluctuation was within 25 paise a litre and made a fresh appeal to the truckers to call off their eight-day-old strike. Meanwhile, a television channel reported that the Andhra Pradesh Lorry Owners’ Association had pulled out of the nationwide strike that has entered its ninth day.

Earlier, the All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) which has called the strike said oil tankers had joined the stir. Transporters in Bihar also joined the strike on Tuesday.
AIMTC leaders had denied reports that the strike would end soon saying they needed concrete concessions from the government before calling off the strike.
The government's proposal came as the Opposition demanded immediate intervention of the Prime Minister to bring to an early end the agitation which, it said, was resulting in spiralling prices, shortage of essential commodities and numerous other hardships. Bureau Report
