A man, who had masterminded a train robbery at Patna railway station in 1995 looting Indira and Kisan Vikas Patras worth about Rs 300 crore has been arrested, police said in Dehradun on Saturday. The man, identified as Naresh Kapoor alias Satish Sharma, an editor of a fake newspaper, had been staying in a posh locality of Dehra Dun for some time after his gang looted the ‘vikas patras’ and used the documents for procuring loans from various banks in Punjab. Following a tip off, a special team of Punjab police swooped down on Kapoor's residence on Friday and arrested him alongwith his wife Neeru Kapoor and a daughter, Seema Kapoor. Kapoor, who hails from Jalandhar city, had constructed a house in the locality and later changed his name to Satish Sharma. According to police, Kapoor, who used ‘vikas patras’ to procure Rs 2.28 crore loan from a bank in Jalandhar was held in 1998 but he again escaped from the clutches of the police when he was admitted to a hospital in Amritsar in the same year. Police seized several documents from the accused who was also running a fake newspaper called 'Daily Uttaranchal Goonj' but the newspaper never got published, police said. CBI is also assisting the Punjab police in this regard, police said.
