West Bengal's minister of state for transport Narayan Biswas, who gave himself up in a Balurghat court in connection with an attempted murder case recently, also surrendered in three other cases against him before a separate court and was granted bail. In the attempt to murder case, Biswas appeared before the additional district and sessions judge, South Dinajpur on Thursday. The matter has been posted for hearing on may 27. br>
Biswas, charged under various sections of the IPC, was granted bail on a personal bond of Rs 1000 on April 26. br>
The minister on Thursday also surrendered before the judicial magistrate, Balurghat, Subhra Ghosh in connection with cases relating to rioting, arson, use of deadly weapons in 1983, 1984 and 1986. br>
The minister was granted personal bonds of Rs 800, Rs 700 and Rs 500 in the three cases.
The magistrate fixed may 11 and may 16 for hearing the cases. br>
Earlier on May 26, the day on which the minister first surrendered before court, CPI(M) state secretary Anil Biswas rejected the demand for Biswas' resignation made by the Trinamool Congress and said his surrender did not prove his guilt. br>
