Montreal, June 12: Willy Weber is not a name that you hear too often when F1 power brokers are mentioned, but the man is the manager for the Brothers Schumacher. And he had a surprising announcement to make a few days ago.
Michael Schumacher will stay put in Ferrari till the end of the 2006 season. This means that he can win drivers’ titles six, seven and eight with the Scuderia.
That is still speculation, particularly since this season has proven that Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso are contenders for the crown, and the last race at Monaco proved that Juan Pablo Montoya is still in the hunt.
However, no matter what people say, Schumi is still the best. So what if Kimi does lead the championship by four points at the halfway mark of the season.
The Ice-Man Kimi and David Coulthard have been putting the new McLaren MP-18 through its paces, and though it is not due until the European GP at Nurburgring on June 29, Kimi has already trashed one car. Well, we don’t know if he trashed the car, since it was a Press-free private session, but Kimi did test the real-life survivability of the car.

This weekend sees us head to the circuit Giles Villeneuve at Montreal, and the son of the city (and of the man after whom the circuit is named) Jacques Villeneuve has had his worst luck here.

In fact, Jacques has had among the worst luck of any driver this season, his Honda engine just can’t seem to survive five laps let alone a race distance. Anyway, the man has vowed to get over the curse this year.

However, with BAR-Honda quite a way off the pace of Ferrari, McLaren, Williams and Renault, Jacques’ best hope might be a points finish.
