New Delhi, July 31: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj party vice president Mayawati, who is here to oversee party activities in view of the coming assembly election, met with the party's Delhi and Rajasthan units ahead of its national executive in Shimla today.
Mayawati said that the party had prepared the list of candidates for the 70 Delhi Assembly seats while the list for Rajasthan polls will be finalised, sources told reporters.
The BSP has already said it will contest assembly polls in Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on its own.
Addressing party workers, Mayawati expressed satisfaction over expansion of the party's base in Delhi and asserted that despite having failed to open its account in the Delhi Assembly polls in 1998, the BSP had an important role to play in formation of the government here.
The BSP, which has a strong presence in Uttar Pradesh, is making efforts to expand its base in others states like Delhi, MP, Rajasthan and Punjab. Mayawati held a successful rally in Chandigarh earlier this month.
