Chennai, Mar 29: Samata Party's Tamil Nadu unit president T K Nandakumar has been removed from the post and general secretary Karuppaswamy Pandian expelled from the party for 'anti-party' and 'questionable' activities respectively. Party president George Fernandes took the action in view of reports from national and state returning officers that Nandakumar had failed to 'cooperate' in internal party polls and was working in a "patently partisan" manner, Samata Party general secretary Aneel Hegde said in a release here tonight.
He said that the unit vice-president Narana Natesan had been asked to work as acting president till the conclusion of party elections.
A show-cause notice had been served on Nandakumar as to why he should not be suspended from the party in view of his activities lowering the dignity of the party.
Karuppaswamy Pandian was expelled in the context of his 'questionable activities' causing damage to the reputation of the party, the release said.
Pandian was alleged to have been involved in several money extortion cases.
