Chandigarh, Feb 10: Leader of Opposition in the Haryana Assembly Bhupinder Singh Hooda today alleged that chief minister Om Prakash Chautala backtracked on his ''assurance'' that he would dissolve the House if the opposition brought a motion in this regard.
Hooda made this allegation after a Congress motion demanding dissolution of the House and holding of assembly elections along with Lok Sabha polls was disallowed by the Speaker. Chautala also made a statement in the house that assembly elections would not be advanced and the polls would be held on time in March, 2005.

Hooda said that chautala had assured him during the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) yesterday that he would recommend dissolution of the House if the opposition brought a resolution in this regard.

Chautala, however, made no clarification on this matter on the floor of the House.

Later talking to reporters, Hooda claimed the idea for the opposition moving a resolution for the dissolution was mooted by the Chief Minister himself during the BAC meeting in the presence of the Speaker.
He said that the Haryana Vikas Party of Bansi Lal had also assured the Congress that they would support the resolution.

He alleged that Chautala changed his mind overnight in this regard after the latter failed to clinch an alliance with the BJP for the coming Lok Sabha elections.

The leader of the opposition accused Chautala of ''cheating the opposition after having cheated the people of the state for more than four years.''
To a question, he said the snapping of ties between the INLD and the BJP would benefit the Congress.

Asked if the Congress would go in for an alliance with some other party in Haryana for the parliamentary polls, Hooda said there was no such proposal at the state level but if his party went in for an alliance with any other party at the national level, it could apply in case of Haryana too.
