New Delhi, Oct 13: Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani today refused to be drawn into any controversy relating to foreign origin of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, saying the government ''has no obligation to review the issue.'' Replying to a question at a press conference organised to mark the completion of three years in power of the BJP-led coalition at the Centre, Mr Advani said the constitution review commitee did not consider the issue.
''I feel the government is, consequently, under no obligation to review the issue,'' he asserted.
Recenlty Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa had raked up the issue, saying Mrs Gandhi, of the Italian origin, should not be allowed to become the Prime Minister of the country.
The observations of Ms Jayalalithha were met with stout resistance from the Congress. Bureau Report
