While a Dhaka's newspaper said that three farmers were killed and another injured in the incident, a private news agency reported that one farmer was shot dead and another inured after BSF men walked into Bangladesh territory and opened fired on them. Another newspaper also said that one farmer was killed and another injured in the firing.
The area MP from the Bangladesh National Party, Syed Manzur Hossain, blamed the 'subservient foreign policy' of the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the incident.
