Beijing, Aug 09: A Chinese court today sentenced to death a former deputy mayor of Xiamen city in east China's Fujian province for bribery.
The intermediate people's court of Xiamen sentenced Zhao Keming, 55, to death with a two-year reprieve, for taking bribes, Xinhua news agency reported.
The verdict also ordered that all his personal property be confiscated.
The court found that Zhao took bribes totalling 4.52 million Yuan (544,500 US dollars) between 1995 and 1999 when he served as a deputy mayor of Xiamen and took charge of urban construction.
Zhao, a native of Xiamen city, was arrested for taking bribes in June 2000.
