absentee doctors and is contemplating a reduction in charges
of medical testing facilities, including MRI, state Health
Minister Lal Singh said.
Describing the Health Department as a mission, he said
the testing facilities would be provided free of cost for

A high profile drug testing lab would be set up in the state on the pattern of one in Chennai for forensic testing and reputed experts from Chennai would be visiting Jammu later this month to advise us on the project, he said.
Besides, the government is also planning to work out a scheme in collaboration with army for providing specialized medicare to the people of border areas by constituting mobile medical teams. The scheme would generate employment for nearly 50 doctors and 200 para-medics in the state, he said.
For popularising the traditional Indian system and Unani medicine, the Minister said the Centre has agreed to provide medicines worth Rs 25,000 each to the 57 ISM and Unani dispensaries of Jammu and Kashmir.
Singh said the Centre would be approached to provide one-time financial assistance for completion of various projects under execution to strengthen health facilities. This would be over and above the funds being provided under centrally sponsored schemes, he added.
