Jammu, Apr 07: Jammu and Kashmir minister for relief and rehabilitation Hakim Mohammad Yasin suspended 30 officials, including some zonal relief officers, for dereliction of duty and misuse of official position. "I have been receiving a number of complaints from migrants in the camps that some relief officials, including some zonal officers, were harrassing them and even delaying their relief cases for pecuniary gains," the minister told mediapersons today. "Acting on these complaints, a surprise visit was undertaken by me along with senior officials to relief organisation yesterday," he said, adding "out of 51 officials, we found only twenty one present in the office”.
Thirty officials were suspended on the spot for absence from duty and records were siezed to verify the complaints, Yasin said. The minister said that special secretary, revenue department, Shahid Iftikar, has been appointed as an inquiry officer to scrutinise the records and verify the complaints against the officials of the relief organisation.
Expressing sympathy with the migrants ,especially those living in camps, the minister said those officials found guilty would be brought to the book.
