Patna, Mar 23: The Bihar government has ordered biological and chemical tests of water sources in 37 districts to ensure supply of quality drinking water to the people.

A decision to this effect was taken by Chief Minister
Rabri Devi following reports of supply of contaminated water
to people in several districts, an official release said
today.
The laboratory test of the water would assess hardness, alkanity and content of calcium, magnesium sulphate, iron nitrate in the water supplied for drinking, it added.
The biological and chemical tests of water sources were part of an accelerated rural water supply programme.
The state government has sanctioned Rs 50 lakh for the purpose, it said.
There had been reports of human suffering because of supply of contaminated water containing a high amount of arsenic in Shahpur block of Bhojpur district recently. Bureau Report
