Islamabad, Nov 21: Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, who was today elected as Pakistan's 19th Prime Minister, is a light weight in the country's politics and is the first politician from Baluchistan to hold the high office. Born in 1944, Jamali shot into prominence after winning elections to the Baluchistan Assembly in 1977 on Benazir Bhutto's PPP ticket.
He was later inducted into the Provincial Ministry and served as Minister for Information and Food.

An ex-chief selector of Pakistan hockey team, Jamali, who hails from Jamali tribe, quit PPP after General Zia-ul Haq took over ousting Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in a military coup.
The 58-year-old Jamali later became Minister of Food of the Baluchistan, the smallest of Pakistan's four provinces.
