Guwahati, Dec 04: Police today made a breakthrough in the killing of 10 people last Sunday at a village in Kamrup district after a mix-up, by arresting a sulfa cadre.
Sulfa cadre Md Ali had brought the army team to Adhyapara village in Assam's Kamrup district when the villagers mistook the army personnel in civil uniform for ULFA militants and attacked them leading to the death of 10 people, including three army men. Police said that Ali was a ''notorious anti-social of the area'' who had earlier extorted Rs 5,000 from a youth. Police had launched a massive manhunt to nab Ali and arrested him from the Ukhura area where he was hiding after Sunday's incident.
Ali was brought to the city for interrogation and the police believed that vital clues could be had from him.
