Guwahati, May 15: No untoward incident has been reported from Assam's troubled north Cachar Hills even as curfew was relaxed in the area for four hours today, official sources said here. The curfew was relaxed at 10 in the morning after the area remained peaceful since yesterday, they said. However, following reports of infiltration of Hmars and Dimasa community members, vigilance was stepped up, they added.

Law-enforcing agencies were directed to take stern measures to prevent infiltration at a high-level security review meeting yesterday.
The curfew was imposed on Monday after killing of hill areas development minister G C Langthasa's son and another person.
Narmendu Langthasa, the minister's son, was killed within an hour of the killing of Hmar community leader and an employee of the divisional forest office, L Tuolor.
