RJD Supremo Laloo Prasad Yadav on Sunday charged the CBI with harassing him repeatedly in connection with the Fodder scam. Addressing a gathering near Hazaribagh, Mr Yadav accused the centre of trying to implicate him in the fodder scam case, saying “The alliance itself was steeped in corruption.” Mr Yadav, scheduled to surrender before the CBI designated court in Ranchi on Monday in connection with the multi-crore-rupee Fodder scam, reached Hazaribagh in Jharkhand on his ‘Garib Chetna Rath’ under a massive security blanket. The leader said, the charges leveled against him in the case, in which he was surrendering before the designated court, were no different from the charges fabricated against him in the earlier chargesheets.
''I have already served seven months jail on the charges in which I have again been chargesheeted,'' said the RJD leader, adding,''I will come out clean as I have committed no wrong.'' Mr Yadav said he was deliberately dragged into the scam by political rivals. He called upon the people to strive for ouster of the ruling NDA governments at the centre and in Jharkhand, which were already burdened by internal rift. “The Jharkhand government, being run from Delhi, has failed virtually as it had allegedly done nothing in the past one year,” he added. He criticised the NDA for reinducting Samata party leader George Fernandes in the cabinet despite his alleged involvement in the murky arms deal exposed by a news portal. Mr Yadav also charged union Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha with corruption saying despite alleged revelations against him in the ‘sensitive’ UTI scam, the union minister continued in the central cabinet.
