Vadodara, Oct 15: At least five persons have been killed and 30 injured in last night's powerful explosion at an ammonia plant of Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizer Corporation factory in Bharuch district. The blast at the nitrogen phosphorous ammonia plant took place around 9 pm on Tuesday, setting off fire in one of the boilers and led to the plant's collapse, official sources said. Twenty-two of the injured have been shifted to GNFC Hospital, while four others with serious injuries were shifted to SSG Hospital in the city. According to District Collector, Bharuch, R K Parmar, the area has been cordoned-off by GNFC authorities and the cleaning of the debris was on full swing. The officials said that fire, which broke out in the plant after explosion, was extinguished.
