The President of Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas has accused the Vajpayee Government of not being serious enough on the issue of construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya.
"If the Union Government was really serious on the issue, an amendment to the Constitution could have been made to pave way for the construction of Ram Temple and, thereby, helped meet the aspirations of the Hindus," Ramchandra Das Paramhans told reporters in Pratapgarh on Tuesday night.
Stating that the Congress government had amended the Constitution after the Supreme Court verdict in the Shah Bano case keeping in view the feelings of the minority community, the Mahant said that "continued neglect" of the majority community could prove "detrimental" to the future of the Vajpayee government.
The Nyas chief warned that "the Ram bhakts who had helped the BJP to attain power could also work to dislodge it. After the construction of the Ram Temple, they would work for the creation of a "Hindu rashtra by including some parts of Pakistan, China and Bangladesh." .

On the Gujarat issue, the Mahant said political parties were just interested in demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Narendra Modi and had "little concern" for controlling the situation there.
