Punia, Gupta challenge validity of FIR in Taj case
Lucknow, Oct 17: Former Principal Secretary to the then Chief Minister Mayawati, P L Punia and the then secretary in environment department V K Gupta today filed separate petitions in the High Court challenging validity of the FIR lodged against them in the Taj corridor case.

the FIR lodged against them in the Taj corridor case.
In a writ petition filed in the Lucknow bench of the
Allahabad High Court here, Punia prayed for quashing of the
FIR and a stay on his arrest.
The petition said no offence had been made out against Punia as specific allegations had been levelled against another person R K Sharma who was the then principal secretary, environment. The petition is likely to be heard on October 20.
Gupta also filed a separate petition challenging the validity of the FIR.
On October 5, an fir was lodged against Punia and 10 others including Mayawati, former environment minister Naseemuddi Siddiqui and six senior officials in the case of irregularities in sanctioning funds for the Rs 175 cr project at Agra. Bureau Report
