Palakkad, Sept 28: Kerala Chief Minister A K Antony today said the UDF government would implement the recommendations of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probing charges against some soft drink brands.
Palakkad, Sept 28: Kerala Chief Minister A K Antony today said the UDF government would implement the recommendations of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC)
probing charges against some soft drink brands.
Denying the charge that the state government was totally
insensitive to allegations against the Coca-Cola plant at
Plachimada in the district, Antony said "let us wait for the
JPC report. We will do the necessary steps."
Whatever be the recommendations, they would be implemented. The JPC is expected to visit Plachimada also", he told reporters here.
The Coca-Cola's Plachimada plant has, of late, been in the thick of a raging controversy with State Pollution Control Board's tests confirming presence of toxic elements in the wastes thrown up by the unit.
The plant was also the target of a prolonged agitation by resistance groups for alleged over-exploitation of ground water in the area.
