Los Angeles, Mar 31: The Klitschko brothers held a public workout before their upcoming championship bouts. The Klitschko brothers held a public workout in Los Angeles before their upcoming championship bouts. Wladimir Klitschko goes first, facing Lamon Brewster in Las Vegas on April 10 for the WBO title. On April 24 in Los Angeles, Vitali will take on South Africa's Corrie Sanders, a tough puncher who demolished Wladimir in a fight a year ago. This history has charged both brothers with emotion; Vitali is keen to avenge his brother and become WBC champion while Wladimir is anxious to re-establish himself as a winner. If both men win, they would become the first brothers to hold championship belts simultaneously.
During the workout, the brothers practiced with sparring partners, worked with punching bags and jump ropes, and stretched their muscles. Trainers Fritz Sdunek and Emanuel Steward put both titans through their paces in an exhausting evening.

"Believe me, it's much more easily to fight than to get prepared for the fight. And it's pretty tough work if you train eight weeks. It's tough. The fight is twelve rounds. Maybe even less," Wladimir joked.

On more serious note he added, "Training is going very well. The communication with Fritz Sdunek and Emanuel Steward is very good. I'm very satisfied with the sparring partners. We're a very good team. And we're working for one result: that Wladimir becomes world champion."

Even though the Klitschko brothers are both very competitive, there is one title neither brother wants: the title of best boxer in the family. "When we started boxing, my mother told us to promise her that we would never fight each other. And we'll live up to that promise," Wladimir said.

In Corrie Sanders, Vitali faces an experienced and powerful opponent. Vitali believes his brother underestimated the South African who boasts a record of 39-2 with 29 KOs. Vitali doesn't want to repeat his brother's mistakes, so he is training hard and preparing a variety of strategies for the fight. "I don't want to underestimate Corrie Sanders: very strong fighter. He beat my brother and I think my brother is very, very strong and I hope this will be very interesting fight," Vitali said.

During Vitali's interviews with the press, the touchy subject of Lennox Lewis once again came up. A year ago, Vitali faced Lewis for the WBO title. During the match, Vitali charged ahead in the scoring, but suffered a nasty gash above his eye. A doctor stopped the fight, allowing Lewis to retain the title. Lewis then retired and vacated the title without giving Vitali a rematch. This has galled the older Klitschko brother, but he hopes a win against Sanders could persuade Lewis to fight one more epic battle.

"I'm fighting for the exact same title but unfortunately without Lennox Lewis. A lot of people would like to see me fight Lennox Lewis. If I win this fight, maybe we can talk to Lennox Lewis about another fight," Vitali said.

Both brothers' bouts will be broadcast on HBO.
