Jaipur, June 03: Rajasthan High Court has issued show cause notices to State Chief Secretary, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and others, challenging renovation being done to original shape of a 10th century Sanghiji Jain temple situated close to this capital city. Notices were issued by a division bench comprising Chief Justice Anil Dev Singh and K S Rathore on Saturday treating a letter sent by a citizen Gulab Chand Sharma, objecting to change in being made the temple, as a Public Interest Litigation (PIL). The bench, also issued an interim order staying alteration in the temple until further order and directed the respondents to file their reply by July 30 this year.

Others respondents in the PIL were temple management, Rajasthan Devstahan department and the Jaipur District Collector. The PIL submitted that the 10th century temple situated at Sanganer near here, had been declared as a ''protected monument'' by state archaeological department and was visited by a large number of devotees and tourists.
Consequently, the court issued the stay against further changes in the temple.
