Pratapgarh, Dec 02: Stepping up their offensive against the Mayawati government and party leadership in Uttar Pradesh, dissident BJP legislators today sought a CBI probe into "illegal properties amassed" by the Chief Minister and senior BJP leaders Lalji Tandon and Vinay Katiyar
Addressing a joint news conference here, dissident MLAs Ravidnra Pundir and Kovid Kumar Singh demanded an inquiry into the properties amassed by BJP state president Vinay Kaityar and party veteran Lalji Tandon.
"If the BJP-led union government is honest it should initiate an inquiry into the illegal properties amassed by Mayawati, Katiyar and Tandon," they said.
The two dissident MLAs, who were accompanied by former minister Yashwant Singh, criticised the state government for indulging in "character assassination" of independent MLA Raja Bhaiya who was jailed recently.
They said Mayawati would have to pay a heavy price for grabbing the Indira Gandhi institute land and merge it with the proposed Ambedkar memorial library.
