Ranchi, July 22: The All Jharkhand Students` Union (AJSU) today decided to extend its support to the July-24 bandh called by 58 pro-domicile organisations.
``We have decided to support the bandh as some vested interests are trying to destablise the state taking domicile policy as cover,`` AJSU`s working president, Kamal Kishore Bhagat told a press conference here. The union`s vice-president Praveen Prabhakar said, ``AJSU congratulates and thank chief minister Babulal Marandi for his stand on domicile policy.``
The state will witness third bandh in a week after leaders of Jharkhand Janadhikar Manch (JJM), Bandhu Tirkey, and Jharkhand Moolwasi Sadan Janadhikar Manch (JMSJ), R P Sahu along with 56 other organisations yesterday agreed to go ahead with the bandh.
Both the organisations had earlier called off their proposed bandh on July 20 as the day coincided with the return of car festival.
However, the convenor of Adivasi Senegal Abhiyan, Salkhan Murmu, went ahead with the bandh which saw large scale violence in East Singhbhum and Saraikela-Kharasuan districts.
Murmu, also BJP Lok Sabha member, yesterday told media in Jamshedpur that his group would neither oppose nor support the July 24 bandh.
