New Delhi, Aug 18: The Supreme Court today admitted a petition filed by former Punjab Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal challenging a High Court order allowing a private complainant to argue before the trial court in a corruption case against her. However, a bench comprising Justice M B Shah and Justice A R Lakshmanan directed the special judge at Chandigarh to proceed with the case for framing of charges against Bhattal after hearing the public prosecutor and the accused. It also reiterated its April 21 order saying that the private complainant, Balwant Singh Dhillon, could point out anything relating to the evidence that had been left out by the prosecution.

Dhillon had alleged that in 1996, Bhattal as Chief Minister had allegedly withdrawn Rs 20 lakhs from the CM's relief fund but the amount was not utilised for the purpose for which it was withdrawn. Bureau Report
