Muzaffarnagar, Feb 14: The Bharatiya Kisan Union BKU today said claimed the minimum support price of Rs 62 per quintal for wheat announced by the centre was not sufficient for the farmers.

BKU president Mahendra Singh Tikait alleged that the government has taken no steps to redress the grievances of farmers whose crops were damaged during last year's drought.
The cost of production for farmers has gone up considerably in the last few months and government has not taken stock of it while announcing the support price, he said.

Tikait said that the BKU would hold its panchayat on Monday here to chalk out its future strategy.
