Beijing, Nov 04: After a successful second meeting between the Foreign Ministers of India, China and Russia, leading scholars and strategists from the three countries would meet this week in New Delhi to find ways to step up trilateral cooperation between the three major countries. "The upcoming meeting of scholars from China, India and Russia is very important one that will discuss regional and international issues of common interest, including the situation in Iraq and anti-terrorism," former Chinese ambassador to India, Zhou gang told reporters here prior to his departure for New Delhi.
Zhou, who is also Secretary General of the China-India eminent persons' group, said the third 'track-two' meeting of scholars of China, India and Russia would take place from November 06-07.
The meeting assumes significance in the wake of a successful second round of talks held between External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha, Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov in New York on the sidelines of UN General Assembly in September.
Zhou noted that China, India and Russia shared a common view on the question of Iraq and a host of other issues and it would be ideal for the scholars of the three countries to explore new ways to step by trilateral cooperation.
