New Delhi, July 25: A task force will be set up under the chairmanship of Central Electricity Authority (CEA) chief to look into the problems relating to power supply in the national capital, Lok Sabha was told today.
The decision was taken in a meeting which was recently held under the chairmanship of power secretary, minister of state for power Jayawanti Mehta said in a written reply.
The task force will also include members from Delhi power supply company (Transco) and distribution companies, she said, adding the power supply position in Delhi was by and large comfortable with marginal energy shortage of 1.7 per cent, however, due to delayed monsoon and the consequent increase in power requirement, the shortage increased by 3.1 per cent.
CNG : government has doubled the allocation of natural gas to Indraprastha Gas Ltd. (IGL) from 0.98 Million Standard Cubic Meters per Day (MMSCMD) to 2 MMSCMD in June, 2002, minister of state for petroleum and natural gas Santosh Kumar Gangwar said.
Further, in order to improve the availability of CNG IGL has planned to increase the number of compressors from 58 at present to 111 by June, 2003, he said, adding this will increase the compression facility from 6.91 lakh kg per day to 16.1 lakh kg per day.
IGL also has plans to increase the number of filling stations from 94 to 110 by march, 2003, he said.
