New Delhi, Mar 11: There is no proposal for privatisation of river Ganga, the Rajya Sabha was informed today. Responding to supplementaries during Question Hour, minister of state for water resources Bijoya Chakraborty said there was no such proposal before the government.
Asked whether a deal had been signed by the government with a foreign company for the privatisation of the river Ganga, she said "so far as the central government is concerned, no such deal has been signed".
Ground water: Central Ground Water Board has prepared a report envisaging recharge of 36,453 million cubic metre volume of surplus monsoon run-off through construction of 39.25 lakh artificial recharge and rooftop rainwater harvesting structures, she said in reply to another question.
Air India: Air India has a plan to acquire new aircraft to enable it to phase out old aircraft, rationalise its fleet and increase its capacity in the market, civil aviation minister Shahnawaz Hussain said replying to a question.
He, however, said the proposal had not yet been received by the government and added there was no plan at present to introduce a premium class on existing flights. Bureau Report
