Ahmedabad, Sept 26: The special Pota court here today
remanded the two accused in Akshardham temple attack
conspiracy to judicial custody.
Adam Ajmeri and Mufti Kayum -- were sent to judicial
custody at Sabarmati Central Jail by Pota Judge Sonia Gokani,
the sources said.
They were arrested from the city on august 28 along with three others, for their alleged role in the temple attack conspiracy and kept in custody of the detection of crime branch (DCB) for interrogation. Three others arrested from the city for their alleged roles in the same case were already in judicial custody after completing police remand.
DCB sources said that Ajmeri had allegedly given shelter and logistic support to the two fidayeens, who stormed the temple, killing 33 people on September 24 last year, during their brief stay in the city.
Police said that Mufti Kayum had allegedly written the 'inspirational letter' in Urdu that was found from the pocket of the one of the two fidayeens after they were shot dead by NSG commandos on September 25 in an overnight gunbattle. The other three accused, including a cleric Maulana Abdullah, were sent to judicial custody earlier this month.
